I don’t have any idea to tell something for this essay but maybe I will tell something about the day that I won’t forget at SIN and that is my first day at the school.
I arrived at the Kerkerhout bus-shelter at 08.30, and I was really nervous at that time. But when I wanted to cross the street somebody said ‘hello’ to me and my brother and fortunately his name is Ando and again coincidentally he is my classmate and after that I met with Indah and she also my classmate and then I met with Jo, Mira, Lieke, Nia and Ajeng. At 08.45 we had to stand in line and hear someone of us to deliver an English speech in front of us and at that day was Ajeng’s turn. After that they invited me and my brother to introduce ourselves in front of other students. And then, when we finished, we went back to our class and started to learn.
At the break I met with Tasya and after that we always did something together. Although in here there are fewer friends compared to my previous school but everyone was so nice to me and it was really make me comfortable to study in here…thx.

One day when we went to a greenhouse, my father wanted to know about paprika. He asked someone in the farm for information. And my father said, “Do you know where is the red paprika since I only see the green ones?

It was four years ago, my family and I went to Madura to visit my uncle and his family who lived in Sumenep.
On the way, we went astray. In our bewilderedness we saw someone stood under a tree near the road. Then my father asked him, “Hi, do you know the route to go to Sumenep?

It was very cold when I came for the first time in Prague. It was in February. I came to Prague with my father, my mother, my little brother and our maid. My parents said that Prague was very beautiful but it was not so beautiful in the winter season. The weather was very different from that of in Jakarta. When we came out from the airplane my father’s friends from our KBRI ushered us to a room. We waited there for our suitcases. Then they drove us to our hotel.
The hotel was not too big but there was enough room for all of us. The next day, Mr. Eri, an embassy’s staff, brought us to a hypermarket to shop. The name of the hypermarket was Carefour. We stayed in the hotel for two weeks. Then we moved to a house.
The house is very close to the KBRI. It’s only takes three minute from our house to the KBRI, and we can see the KBRI from our house. There is also a mini market nearby. But when we shopped there, it was difficult because we couldn’t understand each other as we used English, they used Czech language.
In the afternoon around five or six o’clock, my brother and I often went to the KBRI to fetch our father home. Every Friday, my father and some of my father’s friends and I went to Cerny Mosque for Sholat Jumat. Every Saturday we went to the Vietnamese shop with Mr. Eri. Every Sunday we went to Carefour in Centrum. Sometimes in the weekend we went to places we had not seen, like going to see Jam Bego. The real name of the clock is not Jam Bego but the people from KBRI called it like that because people waited for an our to see some thing comes out from the clock, but it was only some small dolls. Another place that we visited was a mall called Gallery Butovice in Nove Butovice. There was a huge aquarium inside the mall. There were many kinds of fish. My brother liked it there because he loved observing the fish. Sometimes there was a diver who fed the fishes. Inside the mall there’s also a hypermarket called Hipernova.
Two months later I moved to the Indonesian Embassy School in the Netherlands. But I will spend this summer holiday in Prague.

On 12 April 2006, my family and I left for Germany for a holiday. First, we went to Hamburg. There, we spent a night at the Crown Plaza Hotel. When we arrived, I just put my backpacks and our suitcases. After that, we went to a lake in Hamburg and eventually to a shopping mall. Because we went there on foot we became a little bit tired. We returned to the hotel to have dinner.
In the morning, we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. After having breakfast, we went to our room and prepared to go to Berlin.
Still in Hamburg, on the way to Berlin, we visited a zoo near Hamburg. It was very nice. In the zoo, we saw many animals. First, we saw the elephant cage, and many more. After that we drove to Berlin.
When we arrived in Berlin, we had to search the Holiday Inn Hotel first. But we did not find it because there were many streets with similar names. My father called the hotel and asked the street name. And finally we found it.
In the evening, we went to the Maritim Hotel to meet with my father’s friend. And he told us that near the hotel there were shopping malls and many food courts. After that we just went around by car and back to our hotel.
In the morning, we had breakfast in the hotel. Then we went to the Radio Tower in Berlin. Its height was more than 200 meters. There, I could see many buildings and a lot of gardens in Berlin. After that, we went to the Sea Life near the Radio Tower. In the Sea Life, I saw many kinds of fish. I saw a very big lobster. Many people saw lobsters because they were interesting. After seeing many aquariums, we went to another building to see the Aqua Dome, a big aquarium. There we saw many fish inside the dome from a lift. That was very interesting. After that, we visited the Gate of Berlin. We met my mother’s friend in front of the gate. After that we took some pictures with someone’s help. And we helped him too to take some photos. After that, we went back to the hotel.
In the morning on Sunday, we visited the Checkpoint Charlie to buy some souvenirs. The shop was very crowded. When we finished buying some souvenirs, we went to see the Berlin Wall. And on the way, I saw many seesaws in the park. And I played with my father for a while. After that, we went to a river’s edge to get into a ship. In the ship, we just talked about river scenery. After 30 minutes, we went to a souvenir shop to buy more gifts. And in the afternoon, we had lunch and returned to The Hague.

In the last two weeks I had five days holiday. It was a long time for me because it took place from Thursday to Monday. On Thursday until Friday I just stayed at home because my father and my brother had some activities. On Saturday, 15 April 2006, my family and I went to Eindhoven. We went there by car. It took two hour driving to go there from Vlissingen.
First, we went to centrum (city square) in Eindhoven. My brother and I bought some clothes there. We were so tired at the time but we were still happy. After walking around in the centrum we went to the Eindhoven Stadium. It wasn’t too far from the centrum. So, we just walked to go there. The stadium was big, and also firm. We wished to enter the stadium, but we couldn’t because the stadium was closed. We just walked around the stadium. Suddenly, we saw the PSV Eindhoven shop. While my brother bought some football clothes, we also bought some clothes and accessories in there.
We took some pictures in the front of the stadium’s gate. My brother was so happy at the time, because he likes football so much. After that, we were back to the car and we returned home.
In the journey toward Vlissingen, my father drove us to visit somewhere near there. It was near the beach. I saw some boats resting on a small harbour. The panorama was so beautiful. And after that, my father asked to have lunch in one of the restaurants near the beach. We had mosselen for our lunch. Mosselen are like green shells and so delicious.
And at five o’ clock we drove home. It was so tiring. But we were so happy. O, yeah, it was a beautiful holiday.

On 1 April 2006, my family and I went to visit a greenhouse complex in Rijswijk, Zuid-Holland.
When we arrived, I saw many greenhouses. First, I went to see cucumbers in the greenhouse and I decided to buy a cucumber.
After that, I went to a greenhouse that had many flower inside it. I saw many species of flowers there. And I took some pictures in there.
After taking some pictures, I went to a paprika greenhouse. My father asked someone in English, but he answered with Dutch. That’s very funny. And I took some pictures too for the paprika.
After seeing several greenhouses with different plants inside them, we went home. It was wonderful!

On Sunday, 12 March 2006, Bonardo and I had to take part in a poem performance on launching occasion of a poem anthology. We were invited to read a poem in front of a Dutch Minister and a lot of people.
I was surprised when I came there. I had never thought about it before. But I remained confident. There were some Dutch kids joined the poem performance, like us. They read poems, too. Each of us, Bonardo and I read a poem with a guitar cadence. I went there on foot walking from Andrey’s house, a schoolmate of mine.
It was held in a gallery which was near the Andrey’s house. I went there with Mr. Nirwan (our school principal), Bonardo’s parents, Ucok, Ifan, and Andrey.
When we finished reading the poems, the audience gave us a big applause. We were happy after reciting the poems. We were feeling so proud.
After that, we came to the anthology’s author to say goodbye. We got a book from him. An anthology of poem is a good book for me. We thanked the author, and then we went home. It was a good experience to me.

I am one of the students who graduated from SIN last year. Before I did my final exams, I started to search information about universities in London because since long time ago I have been very interested in pursuing my tertiary education at a British university.
I was particularly interested in the SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies; a part of the University of London) and when I applied there, they asked me for an entrance test and an interview. One day I went personally in London and I did what they asked me to do.
The day after I received an e-mail informing that I was accepted at the SOAS. I was very happy about the offer, but I still had to wait to graduate from SIN to be able to go there, and I was a bit nervous not to pass the final exams. So I studied hard and the teachers helped a lot. Thank to God that I successfully passed the exams.
So here I am now, still in SOAS, and this a very great experience. Currently I deal with subjects on European society, politics and law. The next year I expect to commence the field of my specialisation at the Department of South East Asian Studies.
I had a very good time at SIN and there I learnt useful things for my future.
