Virginia Laili, II SMA, 3 June 2005
(Theme: Reflections)
Saturday, 28 May 2005 was the greatest day in my life. I hung out with all my friends: Joe, Indah, Yusak, Donovan, Ricky and Ichan. First I came to a schoolmate’s birthday party. After that we went to the centrum (city centre). The centrum is a place where there are a lot of shops and places for hangout. Some restaurants are usually found in the vicinity as well.
That day was so wonderful because it was the last time my seniors (Donovan, Ricky, Ichan) had a Saturday evening in Holland so I was so happy as I could join the hangout with them. We walked together around centrum, and then we talked about everything and I enjoyed the amusing atmosphere.
Actually I didn’t want that day ended because I knew maybe I couldn’t do that again like we did before. On that day I got an accident. I felt like all of my friends were so kind and very care about what happened to me. But I remembered even tough it was just a little but Ichan, Donovan and Joe were comforting me. Besides, Yusak and Ricky bought a cup of tea for me and then I didn’t know where Indah was because I couldn’t do anything.
I know maybe sometimes I can’t accept the reality that my friends were about to go far away. It means several days to go they will be finishing their study at our school (Ichan, Donovan, Yusak, Ricky).
I can never forget that day, a ‘perfect Saturday’ I still call it.
From the centrum we went to the dormitory. Before that, we went to the central station with tram and then we got into the bus. Maybe around 17.30 we arrived in Kerkehout (bus shelter) in Wassenaar. It’s hard and very hard maybe I had to walk to the dorm because it was quite far from bus shelter. I walked with my friends and the weather was very cold so it made me very hard to walk and beside that my body was not too fit.
At the dorm I met with Ibu Asrama. She made a nice welcome. I was granted a permission to stay at the Asrama that day and night. The next morning we walked together to the school including the III SMP and SMA’s who were having their final exams within these two weeks.
Today, 3 June 2005 my seniors will be back to their home country, of course I’ll be missing them. I hadn’t have much time to spend with them before, but finally a few days earlier I was glad that we had a great time together with them.
